In 2010, Pat and Stephen took off on what The New York Times called "a slightly zany… cross-country adventure" to get married in every state that would let them. At the time, that was only five. In most of the country, marriage equality remained a radical ida, outside the mainstream.
Today's Supreme Court's ruling means that after 29 years together, Pat and Stephen are legally married in all fifty states. The fight for equality continues, but their "wedding tour" ends in victory.
